When purchasing a water cooler, it is your duty to make sure that the cooler is kept in a clean and sanitised state to ensure that the water dispensed from the cooler is clean and fit for human consumption.
The water dispensed from these units must be treated as a food substance and therefore must be sanitised and maintained in accordance with food hygiene and EDWCA regulations. Once the cooler has been connected to a potable water supply it should be sanitised and have the correct filter fitted to the Cooler before it can be used. A filter and sanitisation change should be carried out every 6 months for plumbed in machines and 3 months for bottled machines to ensure the quality and cleanliness of the water and water contact parts.
We do provide a self sanitisation kit or alternately you can use a local water cooler supplier to carry this out for you. If you are in the South East or London area, we can provide you with a quote for this service if not a list of approved companies is available through The Water Dispenser & Hydration Association www.twha.co.uk
